Local places of interestCrediton As the birthplace of St Boniface in 680 AD, one of the first Christian preachers in northern Europe, the town was made the seat of the first bishop of Devon and Cornwall and became the site of the cathedral-sized church which still dominates the town today. Crediton has one of the best golf courses in the region Downs Crediton. A sports hall and swimming pool Exeter A wonderful old city dating back to before Roman times. Things to see include a beautiful Cathedral, Roman wall which is still intact. There is the canal and the canal basin with all its shops and restaurants. On the campus of the university there is the Northcott Theatre who put on many very good productions each year Tiverton Mid Devons largest town on the river Exe. It has a fascinating history which is reflected in the award winning museum. One of the town highlights is the Grand Western Canal which offers horse-drawn barge trips along the 11 miles, starting at the basin, just 1/2 mile from the town centre.
