Ashridge Farm Holidays

Ashridge is a working Organic farm of approximately 200 acres being a mixture of Sheep, Cattle, Pigs and Arable. We farm with the environment very much in mind. Our efforts in this area were rewarded when we won The Otter Trophy for Conservation awarded by the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) for the work that we have done here at Ashridge and we are a member of the Devon Wildlife Trust's Approval Scheme.

On the farm we have a sheep flock with the annual cycle of lambing in March and shearing in June. We usually have a few orphan lambs around to be fed. In the summer there is hay and silage making and in the autumn the corn has to be harvested. These are always exciting times on the farm. Last year introduced a small herd of Devon Red Ruby cattle on to the farm. This is the traditional breed of the area and the the first time for 50 years that they have been on the farm. We have had 14 calves this year.

Guests can help Jill feed the chicken and collect the eggs for breakfast, walk around the stock with Richard and feed the lambs.

There are a number of waymarked trails through our fields and woods, including a green lane where the only sound are the sounds of nature, farm animals, a tractor working the the fields and the occasional car. Click here for more walks. The opportunities for wildlife and landscape photography are endless. See our picture library. Click here
